Though initially resistant to interrogation, captured Royal Physician Sokolov soon learns that there's no better stimulus to conversation than a swam of hungry rats. Meanwhile, Piero Joplin, Sokolov's long-time rival in both science and disturbing, inappropriate behavior, attempts his own unique brand of investigation.
